The Singapore River Hongbao is an annual Chinese New Year cultural exposition which has taken place in Singapore since 1987. It is part of Singapore’s unique way of welcoming and celebrating the lunar new year. At the River Hongbao, one can expect to see -
• majestic large-scale displays of popular Chinese mythical characters such as the God of Fortune, the 12 Chinese Zodiac Animals and other colourful decorations;
• cultural exhibitions, demonstrations, workshops, competitions on Chinese culture and New Year traditions;
• daily line-up of traditional and contemporary song & dance performances and activities;• boisterous fireworks displays, amusement rides and games;
• food and beverage retailing local culinary favourites and foreign delicacies. The essence of SRHB lies in its strong cultural thrust of showcasing Chinese traditions and customs. Specifically, the culture and heritage of a selected city/ province of mainland China is traditionally showcased in SRHB, and this year, the culture and performing arts of Tibet will be showcased.
