The Dressing Details When it comes to being well dressed it is all in the details. For example, Sally has purchased the most expensive, stylish suit in her best color but does not update her hairstyle and accessorizes with gaudy jewelry. If she is looking for a promotion or to make a good impression (the reason she bought the suit) then her neglect of details will not work in her favor. Details such as grooming and accessories are common mistakes that women make; however, sometimes women make mistakes that are less obvious but can be just as damaging. Here are a few: 1. Grayed blacks: Many black garments lose color after they have been washed only a few times. A graying black garment is not appealing and will undermine the rest of your outfit. To prevent black items from losing color quickly, buy wool blends. 2. Double-sided tape and Safety pins: The boy scouts have it right - 'always be prepared'. Keep double-sided tape in your purse for emergencies like falling hemlines. A hemline that has fallen will certainly ruin your look. Safety pins are needed for those unexpected times when a button falls off or heaven forbid, your bra gives way. The best way to prevent this is to keep your undergarments in good repair, but it doesn't hurt to have a backup plan. 3. Remove makeup before bed: Makeup that is left on overnight will eventually clog your pores and cause unhealthy blotchy skin. Good skin is an asset to a great look.
4. Body Shapers: Classy women don't wear tight clothing; they leave a little to the imagination. When you wear form fitting clothes body shapers are useful in smoothing all the bumps to make pants and dresses look better. 5. Scents: Your scent walks in the room when you do. Make sure whatever scent you may be wearing will not nauseate or irritate those with whom you come in contact. It is better not to wear strong perfumes in a work environment and it is also a good idea to pay attention to the scent of your grooming products.
Cheap hairspray or old perfume will not make a good impression. Many places are scent-free which usually means no perfume permitted. However, not wearing perfume doesn't mean you'll be scent-free. Pay attention to the odors you might be bringing with you from home - mold, cigarette smoke, food, etc.
